Mr. Matt Robinson (Department Head/ Director)- After earning his Theatre Education degree from Illinois State University in 1999, Mr. Robinson packed up and moved to Texas. He taught for several years at North Shore Senior High school before finding his home at Klein Oak. Mr. Robinson directs the first Klein Oak play of the school year, the musical and UIL One Act Play. He has taught Theatre Arts, Tech Theatre, Production Theatre, IB Theatre and everything in between. His program emphasizes teamwork and character development not only within the realm of theatre, but also within the student’s own character and his role in serving the community.
Mr. Christopher Pruett (Theatre Tech/ Director)- Mr. Pruett has been teaching at Klein Oak High School since 2010. Mr. Pruett earned a Bachelor’s in Speech (Technical Theatre) from Louisiana Tech University in 1997. Since then, he has worked backstage professionally in theaters in Virginia, Arkansas, and Texas, as well as being part of an east-coast touring company shortly after graduating. He worked as an electrician and light board operator at the Alley Theatre for two years before becoming a teacher. He has since taught theatre arts and technical theatre for the last 11 years.
Mr. Mickey Jones (Theatre Teacher) graduated from Brigham Young University in 1980 with a BA in Theatre and Film, and went on to get an MA in theatre from the University of Kansas. He has taught for 23 years, 17 of those have been at Klein Oak High School. During those 17 years, Mickey has directed 19 shows including most of the musicals between 1994 and 2002. In 2003, he taught half-time and started an event videography business, and discontinued theatre as an extra-curricular activity. After a few years as a half-time teacher, Mickey returned to full-time teaching, and has split his time between theatre and video tech.
