Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Receives 7 Tommy Tune Nominations

tommy tunes The Klein Oak Fine Arts Department received 7 Tommy Tune Award nominations for our 2015 musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels .

Since its inception in 2002 the Tommy Tune Awards has grown to be the largest celebration of High School Musical Theatre in Houston. The annual awards ceremony sponsored by Theatre Under the Stars recognizes excellence by high school students and teachers throughout the 9 county metropolitan area. Forty-five Houston area high schools participated in the 2015 competition.

Klein Oak High School’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels received 7 nominations in 15 categories:

  • Best Musical
  • Best Direction
  • Best Choreography
  • Best Musical Direction
  • Best Orchestra
  • Best Leading Actor – Alec Michael Ryan/ Lawrence
  • Best Featured Performer – Sophia Clarke/ Jolene
Klein Oak will participate in the Tommy Tune Awards show at 7:30 pm April 21 at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The televised event will feature Klein Oak students in the Best Musical category and in the medley for best leading actor, as well as in the opening and closing numbers. Tickets to the Tommy Tune Awards go on sale to the general public on Monday April 13. The Tommy Tune Awards are a founding member of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards , known as The Jimmy™ Awards, celebrated annually in June in NYC. The winner in the Leading Actor and Leading Actress categories will represent Houston musical theatre programs at the Jimmys.
