Guys & Dolls Earns 16 Tommy Tune Nominations

tommy tunes The Klein Oak Fine Arts Department received 16 Tommy Tune Award nominations for our 2014 musical Guys & Dolls .

Since its inception in 2002 the Tommy Tune Awards has grown to be the largest celebration of High School Musical Theatre in Houston. The annual awards ceremony sponsored by Theatre Under the Stars recognizes excellence by high school students and teachers throughout the nine county metropolitan area. Forty-five area high schools participated in the 2014 competition.

Klein Oak High School received 16 nominations in 14 categories:

  • Best Crew and Technical Execution
  • Best Ensemble/Chorus

  • Best Leading Actor – Alec Michael Ryan / Sky Masterson
  • Best Leading Actress – Sarah Holevinski / Sarah Brown
  • Best Leading Actress – Brooke Shaw / Miss Adelaide
  • Best Supporting Actor – Michael DeBose / Nicely Nicely Johnson
  • Best Featured Performer – Travis Jackson Pounds / Big Jule

Klein Oak will participate in the Tommy Tune Awards show at 7 pm April 16 at The Hobby Center. The televised event will feature Klein Oak students in the Best Musical category and in the medleys for best leading actor and leading actress, as well as in the opening and closing numbers. Tickets to the Tommy Tune show go on sale to the general public April 2. For more information, visit the TUTS site . The Tommy Tune Awards are a founding member of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards , known as The Jimmy™ Awards, celebrated annually in June in NYC. The winner in the Leading Actor and Leading Actress categories will represent Houston musical theatre programs at the Jimmys.
