Klein Oak Scores 13 Tommy Tune Nominations

The Klein Oak Fine Arts Department received 2012 Tommy Tune Awards nominations in 13 of the 15 categories for its musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying .

Since its inception in 2002 the Tommy Tune Awards has grown to be the largest celebration of High School Musical Theatre in Houston. The annual awards ceremony sponsored by Theatre Under the Stars recognizes excellence by high school students and teachers throughout the nine county metropolitan area. Forty-four area high schools participated in the 2012 competition.

Klein Oak High School was nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Choreography
  • Best Musical Direction
  • Best Orchestra
  • Best Scenic Design
  • Best Costume Design
  • Best Lighting Design
  • Best Ensemble/Chorus
  • Best Leading Actor – Ryne Nardecchia / J. Pierrepont Finch
  • Best Leading Actress – Aubrey Reece / Rosemary Pilkington
  • Best Supporting Actor – Alex Shrode / J. B. Biggley
  • Best Supporting Actress – Morgan Starr / Smitty

Klein Oak will participate in the Tommy Tune Awards show April 17 at The Hobby Center. The televised event will feature Klein Oak in the Best Musical category and in the medleys for best leading actor and leading actress. Tickets of the Tommy Tune show go on sale to the general public on April 3.
